AMATEA undertakes certain pro bono consulting projects that are aligned with its mission of social betterment:
In Appalachia (and in Nicaragua), AMATEA has engaged community members around the issues of business start-up as a means to alleviating poverty and other social problems.
In Northern Virginia, Dr. Amat provides consultations to Faith-Based and Community-Based Organizations serving refugee and immigrant communities; and
In Leesburg, Virginia, Dr. Amat conducts Life Skills (Empowerment) Workshops for the Transitional Housing Program, applying the framework of Appreciative Inquiry (discovery, dream, design, destiny) to spark life-affirming and uplifting positive change among community members.
