AMATEA undertakes certain pro bono consulting projects that are aligned with its mission of social betterment.

In Appalachia and in Nicaragua, AMATEA has engaged community members around the issues of business start-up as a means to alleviating poverty and other social problems. In Loudoun County, Virginia, Dr. Amat conducts pro bono Life Skills (Empowerment) Workshops for certain non-profit organizations, applying the framework of Appreciative Inquiry (discovery, dream, design, destiny) to spark life-affirming and uplifting positive change among community members.

AMATEA is proud to support Zonta International, advancing the status of women worldwide, through charitable giving, advocacy, and volunteerism to local and global communities; and AAUW, advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research.
